Islam – Essay – Fundamentals and History

Islam – Essay – Fundamentals and History

There are few people on earth today who have not heard something about Islam. Islam is one of the most prominent religions in the world today with at least 750 million people practicing. Islam is a voluntary relationship between an individual and his creator. Islam emerged in Arabia during the early 7th century. Islam means "submission" in Arabic, which is the basis for the religion—submitting to the Will of God. Islamic religion is formed on the foundations of Islamic life, variety and unity is Islam, and Islam and its nonbelievers. The Islamic people had a new faith in their religion and kept their hopes high to conquer and spread the religion. They changed the society that was used across the lands and brought a new religion that would keep the people high in assurance that they’ll always have a good spirit.

The foundations of Islamic life are based on a sacred text called the Qu’ran. The Qu’ran is a record of the exact words revealed by God through the Angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad. The Qu’ran is the prime source of every Muslims’ faith and practice. It deals with all the subjects which concern us as human beings: wisdom, doctrine, worship, and law, but its basic theme is the relationship between God and his creatures. At the same time it provides guidelines for a just society, proper human conduct and an equitable economic system. From the time the Qu’ran was revealed, until this day there has always been a large number of Muslims who have memorized all of the Qu’ran, letter by letter. Not one letter of the Qu’ran has been changed over the centuries.

The third source that provides an important basis for the faith is the biography of the Prophet of God—Muhammad. Muhammad ibnu Abdillah was born in Mecca in the year 569 CE. Orphaned at an early age, Muhammad was cared for by his uncle. He earned his living as a trader and a Shepard among the Bedouins, and was known by his people as al-amin (the trustworthy one). When he was 25, he married Khadija. When Muhammad reached the age of 40, the angel Gabriel came to him with revelations that established his prophethood. Muhammad was first ordered to instruct his immediate family on Islam, including his beloved wife Khadija, but eventually it was revealed to him that he should begin delivering the message to all of mankind. In the next 20 years of his life, he communicated the message of Allah to his people, and set an example for how each human being should lead her or his life. This is especially valuable since Muhammad is the last Prophet of Allah. In the year 632, the year of his death, the Prophet delivered his famous last sermon.

Not Making Money With Online Article Writing?

Not Making Money With Online Article Writing?

I’ve seen numerous "net-preneur" wannabies asking the same question: why am I not making enough money with Google AdSense or Amazon with my blog or website? People read about other people’s success, about teenage kids becoming online millionaires, about getting rich overnight and being able to go on long vacations and still come back to the same income or making money while sleeping. Some of those stories are true and some serve as baits for desperate people who want to make a lot of money with very little effort.

One Major Essay, Our Life Story

One Major Essay, Our Life Story

Each one of us has to write a major life story essay. What do I mean? Let me explain. Our Iranian culture has to share stories that help out our next generations to value what we are coming from. Every cultural group has to be able to share their experiences and life changing events with their next generations.

Our children can only make informed decisions in the future by knowing about our experiences.

There is one major essay each one of us is requested to write. The requirement is a discourse, a concept that our future generations are going to create.

We owe our children the story of our lives, to let our next generation learn from our mistakes as well as our many rich experiences.

The amount of events that has made our Iranian life what it is now is too overwhelming, too painful, and too enmeshed to describe with one single essay. In any case we have to do this.

The Ghostwriter

The Ghostwriter

Timothy Hutton’s in a movie called The Ghost Writer. This is a big deal because I’m in love with Timothy Hutton. OK, so really I’m in love with Archie Goodwin, the character he played in the Nero Wolfe series. Archie’s a wiseass, a snappy dresser, intelligent eyes in a believeable face. Archie’s Mr Wolfe’s right-hand man, he’s the administrator, the go-to guy who calls up the troops – Saul, Benny, Lon et al – and tells them succinctly what they need to know to get the job done. He weaves in and out of classy high-society and has a healthy relationship with the cops and capos alike.

I saw the trailer for The Ghost Writer on The Guardian, wasted the first few minutes remembering that I had read this book of political intrigue and murder – it’s a cracker – seeing and admiring Ewan McGregor’s spot on take on the main hero and being surprised by James’ Belushi’s convincing turn as the decision-making publisher. I was just comparing the film version of the wishy-washy old-school UK publisher and the written version when the camera flashed on Timothy. When it turned out that that was it for Timothy Hutton in the movie, I felt cheated.

Other great movies from great books have to start with the actioners: The Patrick O’Brian series of novels about adventures on the high seas are amazingly engaging historical stories that appeal to all ages. I thought that Master and Commander and The Far Side of the World were two separate books that were amalgamated in one movie until I checked the listings on Amazon. Peter Weir the director was the magic meister who brought it all home perfectly. Russell Crowe and whasisname, (Jennifer Connelly’s husband, good-looking, starred with Russell in A Beautiful Mind too), were a terrific piece of casting. The adventure was thrillingly told and its appeal stretches to everyone with a heart and a sensitive pulse, from those who like the excitement of physical adventure stories to anyone with 10 or 11-year-old boys of their own. (Paul Bettany, was the Irish scientist, the captain’s best friend and counterfoil to the captain’s primary role in His Majesty’s Navy.)

Case Study: Using Open Source Content Management: SantaCruzLive

Case Study: Using Open Source Content Management: SantaCruzLive

Introduction is a youth and entertainment portal for one of the liveliest towns on the west coast. An extension of the Santa Cruz Sentinel (the local newspaper), endeavors to reach beyond the typical newspaper demographic, to attract a younger readership in the online environment. Newspapers have struggled with this problem for the past five years, and is one of the most effective solutions to hit the Internet.

Newspapers are notorious for under-investing in their websites, making the development of a completely new site – focused on non-newspaper readers – a difficult sell. What do you do when you can’t get funding?

The answer: "open source".

Open source software is free technology that is widely available on the Internet, offering sophisticated tools with no price tag.’s deployment of open source technology serves as a model to small businesses that seek dynamic websites without the accompanying costs.

An Ambitious Agenda

The Santa Cruz Sentinel recognized early that they needed a way to reach younger readers. While the previous generation grew up understanding the importance of the local newspaper, today’s youth turn to the web instead. Movie listings, local events, and even restaurants used to see the newspaper as the easiest way to reach new customers. That dynamic has changed, and wanted to take advantage of the emerging trend.

In attempting to appeal to a younger audience, though, the Santa Cruz Sentinel faced a daunting challenge. Newspaper investment in online efforts has always been thin, and would be a fundamentally new product; it would not simply mirror the newspaper. Knowing that they would not be able to fund an ambitious new product heavily, the team at the Santa Cruz Sentinel turned to the open source community for innovative software solutions without having to pay thousands of dollars in software fees.

Conclusion was launched under the same conditions as most online entrepreneurial efforts. The budget was tight, and nobody had ample time. Distractions abounded, as everybody on the team had "real" jobs. But, open source technology made this innovative endeavor possible. With no software costs, the Santa Cruz Sentinel was able to make the cost of the project manageable, and the effectiveness of open source technology reduced development time substantially.

Small businesses face many of the same problems as the Santa Cruz Sentinel. We earn every new customer, and any investment in growth must be compelling. Open source software makes new online solutions less expensive, and it becomes much easier to get started – and finished. The case for investing in growth consequently becomes more effective, since the cost of growth is reduced.

Open source technology is still technology. You will have to engage the appropriate expertise; programmers are unavoidable. With tools like Zope and Plone, you can reduce the amount of programming needed. As a result, you both eliminate your software costs and reduce your spend on programmers. Expanding on the web may not be cheap, but at least it can be cheaper.
